Terms of Services

Last updated: September 21, 2025

These Terms govern your use of the Deborah Flowers website and any online services provided through it. By using the site, you agree to these Terms.

1. Services & eligibility

  • Counselling is offered online across Canada and in person in Three Hills, Alberta.

  • Clients are generally ages 13+. For minors, parent/guardian involvement may be required by law.

  • Services are not available where prohibited by law or outside the counsellor’s scope.

2. No emergency care

This practice does not provide emergency or crisis services. If you need urgent help, call 911 or your local crisis line.

3. Booking & intake

  • Inquiry does not establish a client relationship.

  • A client relationship begins after intake is completed, consent forms are signed, and your appointment is confirmed.

  • Session format may be secure video, phone, or in person by appointment.

4. Fees, payment, and insurance

  • Standard fee: $160 CAD per 50-minute session unless otherwise stated in writing.

  • Payment is due the day of service via e-transfer, credit card (secure processing) or cash.

  • No direct billing — receipts are provided for submission to extended health benefits or HSAs, subject to your plan’s terms.

5. Cancellation & missed appointments

  • Please provide 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.

  • Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged up to the full fee.

  • Emergencies and illness will be considered compassionately.

6. Telehealth consent

By attending online sessions, you acknowledge that telehealth has benefits and risks — including rare technology failures and privacy limitations. You agree to:

  • Use a private, quiet space and reliable internet.

  • Test your audio/video before sessions and keep software updated.

  • Refrain from recording sessions unless mutually agreed in writing.

7. Confidentiality & limits

Confidentiality is central to counselling, with legal/ethical limits — including risk of serious harm, suspected abuse/neglect, or court orders. Email and messaging are for scheduling and brief updates only.

8. Website use & content

  • Website content is informational — not clinical or medical advice.

  • Do not rely on website content for diagnosis or treatment decisions.

  • I may modify or remove content at any time without notice.

9. Intellectual property

All website content — text, graphics, logos, and materials — is owned by or licensed to Deborah Flowers and protected by law. You may not reproduce or distribute content without written permission.

10. Third-party links

Links to other websites are provided for convenience. I do not endorse or control their content or policies and am not responsible for any loss arising from their use.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Deborah Flowers is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of this website or services. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where not permitted by law.

12. Governing law

These Terms and any disputes related to the site or services are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Venue and jurisdiction lie in Alberta.

13. Changes to Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated Terms. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest version.
